Rorzone 3.0 | A New Chapter Begins

Rorzone 3.0 is almost here! After 7 months of development and a full rebuild, the new system is almost ready for beta testing. With a stable foundation, better features, and sustainable plans for the future, this marks the beginning of a new chapter.
For the past 7 months we’ve been focusing on a new major update. This is the third time we are rewriting the whole system so let’s call it 3.0! Complete rebuild of the system gives us the stable foundations we need for the future. Right now, the basics are working smoothly, and we’ll soon launch limited beta testing.
Why complete rebuild?
When we started developing Rorzone three years ago, we never imagined it would grow this big. It was just a small CV project for us and our friends to play AC together without having to configure everything again every time. We made it public because we thought others might enjoy it as well, and two years later we are here!
But with growth comes limitations. The old system is holding us back, making it harder to add new features and scale for a bigger community. That’s why we had to start over. We are now smarter than we were three years ago. To overcome the technical debt this is the best way to build the backbone of a system that can be scaled for a growing playerbase.
Beta and Roadmap
The beta period will be short and focused, just long enough for us to gather feedback and make sure everything works as intended. Once it’s done, we’ll officially say goodbye to the old Rorzone and migrate over to the new one!
At the beginning there won’t be too many new features. But we are getting there. The solid foundation means we can deliver updates even faster and build the new Rorzone piece by piece.
Available at launch:
- Lobby: Create your own lobby and invite your friends as before, better error handling, live time updates with websockets, basic host options, privacy filter.
- Public sessions: Open public sessions 24/7.
- Steam integration: Steam login support.
Coming after launch:
- Lobby: Advanced options for more customizability over your AC server.
- Lobby: Save and share options presets of your AC server.
- Public user profiles: View and manage profiles, privacy options, add friends.
- Steam integration: Sync Steam friends into Rorzone for easier invites.
- Community hosted events: Customizable events that can be published to everyone.
Sustainability
Let’s talk about something important: hosting costs. From the beginning, we’ve been covering server costs ourselves. While offering free service has been amazing, we hit the 35k total players recently and the growing player base means it’s no longer sustainable without support. That’s why we’re introducing subscription tiers:
- Free Tier: Free to use! Access to public sessions and private sessions with limited settings, but racing time and options are restricted.
- Pro Tier: 3,99€ / month | Unlimited racing time in private sessions, full access to all session settings, and everything in Free Tier.
- Ultimate Tier: 19,99€ / month | Everything in Pro, plus priority support and exclusive premium benefits that will roll out over time.
These tiers ensure that we can keep Rorzone running, improve it continuously, and still offer a free option for casual players.
Thank You
We’re beyond grateful for how far the Rorzone community has taken this project. 3.0 update is our way of showing we’re serious about the long-term. We're building something better, together.
